Polaris Poultry - Value To You

I'm Don Dyer, Owner of Polaris Poultry. I have owned chickens for 25 years and farmed poultry for meat and eggs for 12 years.

After using several mid-west hatcheries, I have been a Jenks Hatchery customer and fan for eight years. I've received dozens of shipments from them with 100% survival. Jenks Hatchery has been a Rock Star level supplier in every aspect.

In April of 2018, I ordered 1,000 Cornish Cross chicks from Jenks Hatchery in Oregon. I ordered them for pickup at the main Anchorage US Postal Service Distribution Center at Anchorage International Airport. What I received four days after the hatch date was 176 live but sick chicks, and 824 dead chicks. In the next three days, 92 chicks died- leaving me with 84 chicks to fulfill a 900 chicken order.

The issue that killed all of those chicks was not the fault of Jenks Hatchery. It was the fault of the United States Postal Service. This was not an isolated event! Just one of many that finally broke my trust in USPS. No matter who I talked to at USPS about the dead-loss issue, I could not find one person that would offer a solution or be accountable. The just shrugged their shoulders and passed the buck. This problem is especially acute here in Alaska.

As a result of that event, I vowed to NEVER depend on USPS again.

That's why I went to the express air cargo solution. Unlike the average chick buyer, I do enough volume for that shipping solution to make financial sense. In addition, the reliability of air cargo and the health of the chicks makes air cargo a no-brainier.

Jenks Hatchery approached me in 2019 with the proposition of being their exclusive distributor for Alaska. This was done because so many of the other Jenks Customers in Alaska were experiencing the dead-loss problem. So I stepped up and gave all of the other chicks bound for Alaska a ride with my chicks, and an easy way for you to get delivery and advice from a local person that cares.

I genuinely like Chickens and Turkeys. When you consider the health benefit to the chicks, as well as your ethical responsibility to treat animals in a humane and dignified manner, the Polaris Poultry solution makes more sense than any other. A happy and healthy chick is one that will grow quickly, behave normally, and give you years of faithful service and high quality meat.

Our prices do reflect the additional cost of air freight and customer service. However, it is a small additional investment to ensure that you receive an ethically treated bird that will perform to all of your expectations.
